Heritage Nature Reserve… located in Bel Ombre, in the South of our tropical island, this natural reserve offers adventurous activities to explore the historical scenes of Mauritius.
Discovering new places has always been exciting and fascinating.
We reached the Heritage Nature Reserve at around 10 am; we were not familiar with the roads and google maps have been of great help!
Our guide welcomed us warmly at the reception where he thoroughly explained how our nature trip will go during the day. We were also given detailed security measures for our ride into the vast endemic forest.
The Eco Buggy Tour
It was thrilling to ride the buggy all the way through the reserve.
The panoramic landscape views that appeared in front of us rendered us speechless. It was so serene with the ruffling of trees and butterflies flying right next to us.
I was too busy contemplating those sceneries that I forgot to take pictures!
We met history during our ride : the chimney of Federica Sugar Estate founded in the 19th Century.
Muddy Slippery Roads.. butterflies.. endemic birds & plants.. Bird-eye views..
Enba Pié Eatery
We ended our exhilarating buggy experience with fresh-squeezed bergamot juice after an hour.
I really admired how they named their little restaurant which means ‘under a tree’.
Enba Pié is set right beneath a stunning 138-year old Banyan tree!
We were served typical Mauritian food amidst this beautiful natural setting. Fish Vindaye, Chicken Masala, Curried Potatoes, and Pain Maison were on the menu which satisfied our appetite.
The Bay2Bay Tour
Discovering the South…
Our guide, Rakesh was very informative while explaining the history
behind every spot that we went. He was very knowledgeable and could respond to all our queries that we had (And, we had a lot of them!)
Awe-inspiring, breathtaking and thrilling experience at the Heritage Nature Reserve
