First, what is Tofu?

Originated in China, Tofu is made from condensed soy milk pressed into solid white blocks. It is also known as bean curd and is high in protein.

Tofu has several health benefits and is a great addition to your food diet. It has a subtle taste and can be prepared is so many different ways.

Scrambled Tofu

Characterised as a vegan dish, scrambled tofu has become quite popular as it is quick and easy to prepare at home. Ingredients:

  1. Fresh Tofu
  2. 1/2 tsp of Turmeric
  3. Black salt
  4. Tomato
  5. Vegan cheese
  6. Olive oil
  7. Onions
  8. Scallions


  • Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and gently fry the onions.
  • In the meantime, take the tofu and mash it in a bowl using your hands or a fork.
  • Add the turmeric and black salt (Kala Namak) to the mashed tofu. It’s important to use black salt to provide an eggy taste to the tofu.
  • Add the mashed tofu to the frying pan and stir on medium heat.
  • Add the tomato, scallions, and vegan cheese on the top.
  • Cook for 5 minutes till it becomes soft.
  • And that’s it! Your scrambled tofu is ready.
