Toxic people are everywhere. They are the ones who complain about everything, love gossips, are so judgemental and can still act like the best people in the world.
We don’t blame them for being like this… It’s who they are right now at their unique stage of life. Some people do not even know that they are toxic because no one ever told them! So they continue to be toxic without making a change…
As you spend time with yourself more, you start to recognize whose energy is good for you and whose energy you need to stay away from. Luckily, we can remove toxic friends and relatives from our lives once we have identified them
But, what about our toxic colleagues? How do we remove them?
The answer is You Cannot.
They are the people you have to interact with on a daily basis. You see them in your department every single day. Whether you like it or not, you just cannot ignore them or pretend that they don’t exist.
So what do we do?
We spend 8-9 hours in a company and we certainly do not want anyone’s negativity around for Nine hours!
Who would want that? That’s a shitty way to live…
Once I spot a toxic colleague, I do not maintain a long conversation with them. That’s what I used to do; ignore them or just let it go.
However, what I’ve observed is how people would listen quietly when a toxic colleague is spreading gossips or just talking shit, even if they are being mentally affected.
If you cannot ignore them, stand up to them.
If you don’t let someone know that they are disrespecting you, they will continue with their actions.
Of course, do it in a calm way as you are in a place of work.
You have to know when to stand up for yourself and when to stay quiet.
The balance between those two is primordial.
You have the right to say ‘No’ to a conversation which is making you uneasy.
Protect your energy. Protect your space. Even if you are in a corporate environment.
